Surveillance State of the Day: That persistent paranoia that you’re being watched all the time? It’s justified.
According to documents leaked on Wikileaks, the U.S. government has cobbled together a new technology that siphons real-time data from surveillance cameras in stores, casinos, and other businesses around the country, then allows agents to use facial recognition software to analyze the footage for terrorists — or would-be terrorists.
The best part? Because the structure was more-or-less already in place, this has mostly happened under the radar of most Americans. So predictable.
This is the same technology that Morgan Freeman showed Bruce Wayne in the dark knight. This is also the same technology that Aaron Sorkin wrote into an episode of the Newsroom filmed LAST YEAR and aired LAST NIGHT. The world is fucking creepy.
